For the other affiliate program managers on the board:

What percentage of your affiliates are making sales?

I don't manage a program but a friend of mine does through LinkShare. He says that he is lucky to get sales from more than 1 out of 50 affiliates.

I would say around 3-5% from what I have seen.

That would probably be about right, my programs have about 900+ in one and 700+ in the other but have about 8 or 9 main affiliates and others that send through a handfull of leads or so every month for each program.

I wonder what happens to all the others?

Do you think that affiliate programs ran through a network hav a good chance of people signing up for every program and then only promoting a few?

Definately, I think we are living proof of that having over 900 affiliates but only having a main 10 good affiliates. It is important to get the good affiliates involved in your programs as this will then produce the bulk of your leads.

It makes no odds how many affiliates you have but as long as you get at least one of the top performing affiliates. I dont know how these affiliates choose who they promote wheather its the brand or commission value alone??

Teaboy,

Do you automatically accept affiliates? I know that many affiliates, myself included, update our sites in batches. So we like to join a group of programs in a network all at one time and place them all on our site in one setting - not having to wait for acceptance from each which do not take place at the same time.

Hi CatWoman, thanks for your question.

We actually manually accept or decline new affiliates to our programs, the reason for this is that we need to make sure what kind of sites our clients (CCUK and Life180) are associated with. For example our clients do not want to be advertised on a site that contains images of an adult nature or a site that offers incentives in return for applications.

If you or anyone are looking to promote either CCUK or Life180 please get in touch with me once you have applied and I can approve you straight away, martyn.beacon@ccmdigital.com. I do however do these approvals on a daily bases.

Hope this helps. Smiler

I have heard alot of managers complain about incentive sites. People signing up for offers for a kickback without any interest in the actual product/service.

We have suspended all the sites that we know are offering incentives whether it offers cashback or something as trivial as sweets. We recognised the fact that the leads provided by these types of sites are, 99% of the time, rubbish leads that have no interest in our product or service.

Before we suspended them we did of course seek guidance from our affiliate network to make sure we played by the book.

Yes, many incentive sites scam affiliate programs. Further, many of them have partnered up with Adware companies as well, i.e. EBates Frowner

Teaboy, Catwoman,

Is there a site on the web that lists the companies that use adware and/or steal affiliate commissions.

Or better yet, what affiliate programs have them as members?

I am wondering if I am losing commissions to them. I would drop the programs that allow them in their programs.

Hi TrumpetPlayer,

I am not aware of a site of this nature, but if I were you I would stay clear of these incentivised sites. My personal view that is.

If you are worried about losing commissions speak to your affiliate network and ask them to check your program over to be sure.

Maybe Carwoman will be able to let you know a bit more?

Thanks,

Problem is that many time affiliate programs don't know they have adware sites as affiliates. 180Solutions has been know to sign up to programs under many different names.
