Anyone know much about this nasty adware? I clicked on a banner on a site a boom - a dozen pop ups and now I am stuck with pop ups from them. Both of my anti-adware programs have not found it either. Any help would be appreciated.

I got so fed up with adware attacking Internet Explorer that I downloaded the free version of Netscape.

I couldn't be happier.

PS - I do miss my Google Toolbar though

I have seen this site listed on some boards lately. No one seems to be able toget rid of it by using anit-adware software. Mat be too new for the code to be in the softwares' databases.

Here is some more info:

quote:
680180.net is also known as Zamingo and is an adware that displays popup ads every now and then when you are using Internet Explorer. The adware records urls visited and keywords typed and contacts to its controlling server ( Zamingo.com or 680180.net ) to retrieve related advertisements to display them as popup ads which is very annoying.

To remove:

# Click Start > Run, enter 'regedit' to open the registry editor.

# Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run

In the right pane, delete the value 'Adstartup'.

# Close the registry editor.
# Open a Dos command prompt window, enter the following commands:

For Windows 2000/Xp,

cd %WinDir%System32
regsvr32 /u SWin32.dll

Or for Windows 98/Me

cd %WinDir%System
regsvr32 /u SWin32.dll
# Reboot the computer.
# Open Windows Explorer, type %WinDir%/System32 to open the system folder. Delete the following files (if present):

ADStartUP.exe
AdUpdater.exe
Swin32.dll
AutoMove.exe

adupdmanager.xml
data.xml
IEEnhancer.dll
Trans.exe
